CBSE has mandated Composite Skill Labs to provide multi-sector, hands-on skill education for Classes VI–X aligned with NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023. Students gain practical and transferable skills through projects, workshops and experiential learning.
Composite Skill Lab
Composite Skill Labs align with NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023 by promoting hands-on, interdisciplinary and technology-enabled learning. They provide students with exposure to multiple sectors while connecting classroom theory with real-world applications and career pathways. CSLs develop 21st-century skills such as creativity, communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving.

A Composite Skill Lab must provide a safe, secure and well-organized environment for students, teachers and staff. Clear safety procedures should cover the use of tools, equipment and materials across different skill sectors. Regular safety checks, proper supervision and clear signage help prevent accidents and ensure a secure learning environment.
